About Brittany’s Yoga + Meditation Teaching:
As a yoga and meditation teacher I am known for a practice based on introspection, insight, intelligence, imagination, technique, practicality, safety, balance, transcendence, community, playfulness and human touch. Students seek my unique style of guidance which relies on practical, functional, intelligent practices that lead to health and longevity. My yoga and meditation classes rely on eloquent metaphors, intelligent sequencing, and supportive hands-on assists. I draw inspiration from a wide variety of influences including my studies of yoga, dance, improvisation, literature, philosophy, psychology, and Taoist theory.
I hold certifications in vinyasa, restorative, and Katonah Yoga © and I have studied extensively with my mentor, Katonah Yoga founder Nevine Michaan. Katonah Yoga incorporates classical Hatha yoga with Taoist theory, geometry, magic, mythology, metaphor, and imagination — in a practical framework designed to potentiate personal and communal well-being. I am proud to be Houston's first Katonah Yoga certified teacher and I have woven the Katonah principles into the fabric of my teaching. I have also led 200-hour yoga teacher trainings in which I trained over 100 yoga teachers. I continue to guide and mentor yoga teachers in the Houston yoga community.
